The Anesthesia Department and Surgical Suite


The team of highly experienced pediatric anesthetists in the Department – all of whom have specialized in the field - provides sedation services to all departments and units in the hospital. Their challenge is to attain the optimum balance for the child during surgery: administering anesthesia while ensuring that the child’s vital body functions are protected.

The Surgical Suite


About 80% of anesthesia procedures are conducted within the Surgical Suite comprising 7 operating rooms equipped with the most advanced technologies. The operating rooms are connected to the hospital’s IMD-soft computerized network, providing all patient parameters alongside data that is updated in real-time.

Day Care Surgery Unit


The Day Care Surgery Unit treats children who do not need to be hospitalized following surgery. Children arrive in the Unit, await their surgery, and are transferred to Day Care for observation after they have fully recovered from the anesthesia, and return home the same day.

Recovery Unit


The Unit is located next to the Surgical Suite and receives the children after surgery. Following recovery in the Unit, the children are transferred to Day Care for observation until their discharge.

Pre-Operative Clinic


Children who require a general anesthetic for operations, treatment or medical tests, are examined beforehand by an anesthetist and nurse as part of preparatory care. Parents are required to sign the consent form for anesthesia following the examination.

Chronic Pain Clinic


The clinic treats children suffering from prolonged and chronic pain. It is the only one of its kind in the country and one of the few in the world. A psychologist and physical therapist form part of the team, depending on the type of pain.

Acute Pain Clinic


The clinic treats children for pain relief following surgery or treatment at Schneider Children’s. The service is available to all hospital departments.

Research


The team of senior anesthesiologists provides services to all surgical sub-specialties in Schneider Children's. To reach our goal to wholly incorporate advances in pediatric anesthesia in the world with excellence of treatment, our staff conducts research in advanced fields of pediatric anesthesia such as regional anesthesia in neonates and infants, pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesia, anesthesia for rare diseases and syndromes, pediatric pain treatment and new technologies in pediatric anesthesia.
