Int'l Child's Day 2020

International Child’s Day 2020 was marked at Schneider Children’s by the Committee for the Protection of the Child under the slogan "Seeing the Children Behind the Masks"
Date: 19.11.20 | Update: 23.11.20

International Child’s Day 2020 was marked at Schneider Children’s by the Committee for the Protection of the Child under the slogan "Seeing the Children Behind the Masks". The objective of the slogan was to raise awareness and sharpen instincts in the prevention and identification of children in distress or under duress. During these stressful times in the shadow of the corona pandemic, we are witnessing a rise in the incidence of violence in the family.

Due to the necessity of maintaining regulations of social distancing and the avoidance of crowds, no activities were held in the hospital's lobby this year. Rather, in keeping with the times, facial masks were distributed imprinted with the clear message; "Seeing the Child Behind the Mask". Huge screens were erected in the hospital depicting messages to raise awareness in identifying cases of distress in children, and guidance and assistance to prevent aggravated situations in the home.

The Committee for the Protection of the Child at Schneider Children’s represents a resource for support and guidance to staff concerning children arriving for treatment where suspicion of abuse or neglect may be indicated, and also aims to raise awareness and instruct hospital staff about these issues.

Members of the Committee include Chair, Dr. Rama Schwartz; senior physician in the ER; committee coordinator and Director of Social Services, Efrat Harel; Deganit Ben Nissan, chief psychologist in the Institute of Child Development; and Ofir Lipshitz, a member of the hospital’s Nursing Management.
