Date: 23.06.20 | Update: 29.06.20

Dafna is married and a mother of 4. She holds a BA and an MA in Nutrition from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and is currently a PhD student in Health Systems Management at Ariel University. She previously served as Deputy of the Nutrition and Dietary Unit, as well as dietary team leader in the Hemato-Oncology Department, a member of the pediatric palliative team and TPN team, and oversaw cooperation with the nursing staff for formula feeds.

The Nutrition and Dietary Unit at Schneider Children's is the largest of its kind in the country and provides a range of nutritional services for children as an integral part of the medical care provided to inpatient departments and clinics in the hospital. The Unit treats children suffering from an array of medical conditions such as cancer, organ transplantation and gastroenterology disorders where nutrition plays a critical role in their recovery. The Unit relies on the skills of clinical dieticians who have specialized in pediatric nutrition. Dieticians conduct nutritional assessments and decide on a program according to each child's needs – based on the latest regulations adopted both in Israel and abroad. Dietary services are characterized by professionalism, flexibility, service-oriented and individual approaches to each child and his family, with the emphasis on child empowerment.

Dafna Ziv Busani: "I am proud to play a role in the high quality care provided at Schneider Children's. As part of the Unit's vision and my personal "I Believe", the Nutrition and Dietary Unit will continue to spearhead the issue of children's nutrition and be a source of knowledge and serve as a professional authority in this sphere."

Prof. Joseph Press, Director of Schneider Children's, stated that, "The hospital management and I congratulate Dafna Ziv Busani upon her appointment as head of the Nutrition and Dietary Unit. I am sure that her personality and broad experience and skill gained over many years will add towards her success in her new position. At the same time, we thank Irit Porat for her many efforts over the years as head of the Unit, and pay tribute to her diligence and contribution towards the hospital."
