Thinking outside the box, Schneider Children’s has devised a new and novel method to serve breakfast to hospitalized children. “Groovy Breakfast in a Box” represents a significant upgrade and encourages children to eat.

Especially adapted to children, the illustrated box doubles as a game, similar to those prepared for children by the large food chains. The new approach is a complete change: instead of the traditional method of serving meals in hospitals, children receive an inviting, fun and aesthetic package.

The menu was compiled by the team in the Nutrition and Dietary Unit at Schneider Children’s and includes all the main food groups. The colorful box is environmentally friendly – every box is recycled after use.

The “Groovy Breakfast in a Box” project was developed by Schneider Children’s Director of Administration, Ilan Shemesh, Director of Organization and Systems, Batsheva Boim-Gur, and Chef Alon Yosef, in cooperation with “Tnuva Chef”.

Mr. Shemesh noted that “Schneider Children’s is always concerned with the well-being and needs of our young patients. As part of our services, and in the interests of progress, we redesigned children’s breakfasts. Much to our satisfaction, both children’s and parents’ reactions have been wonderful.”
