Your contribution to Schneider Children's will be most gratefully received and will help make a difference to saving children's lives. Contributions made in Israel and the United States are all tax-deductible.
Pediatric care, by its nature, is a continually evolving and highly specialized discipline, and as such, demands a huge and constant investment in order to remain on the cutting edge of medical, scientific and technological progress. The operating budget of Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel does not allow for the increasing costs of pediatric care, and the hospital has no choice but to seek additional funding from outside standard resources. This is where the generosity of donors plays a crucial role.
Schneider Children's facilities, equipment and personnel are all in urgent need of augmentation. At the same time, continued research studies, which comprise the very basis for medical advancement and increased knowledge, require sustained funding.
- Increasing Demand
When Schneider Children's was planned and built, the expected numbers of patients, with modest projections for growth, were estimated relative to the situation in the country at that time. The tremendous influx of new immigrants in the 90’s together with the broadening popularity of the hospital, has created a demand for services way beyond original expectations. The ER, for instance, which was planned to receive a maximum of 18,000 patients annually, registered a record 52,000 visits for two consecutive years in 2002 and 2003, almost triple the original estimate.
- Equipment Advancement
Equipment installed in 1991 was relative to state-of-the-art technology at that time. In addition, medical equipment loses about 20% of its effectiveness each year. Given the rapid pace of scientific and technological advancements particularly in the last decade, Schneider Children's must constantly remain on the cutting edge to ensure continued standards of medical excellence.
- Personnel Augmentation
Ironically, at a time when the rate of unemployment is at its highest since the early years of the State, hospitals are for the most part understaffed. The situation at Schneider Children's is no different. The addition of medical specialists has not kept apace with growing numbers of patients, since job-slots have been pre-determined by Clalit Health Services. This has resulted in a tremendous overload on the staff, physicians and nurses in particular.

Jewish tradition views philanthropy as a righteous deed and a just activity. Funding provides philanthropists with a sense of personal involvement and partnership. But above all, it provides them with the power to make a difference. Such power, in fact, that it can mean the difference between life and death. Financial support of Schneider Children's has no color, religion, or race but it is the core of caring and the heart of humanity, especially in these difficult times. |
